    Colorado State Land Board Acquires Lake Fork Ranch to Expand Trust’s Revenue and Conservation Opportunities

    DENVER – The Colorado State Board of Land Commissioners (State Land Board) has approved the acquisition of the approximately 800-acre Lake Fork Ranch, located just west of Leadville in Lake County. The purchase represents a strategic reinvestment of trust land proceeds into a high-quality property with strong natural and agricultural values, diverse income potential, and long-term value-appreciation prospects. Through this acquisition, continued agricultural use and carefully planned recreation access will ensure that the ranch remains an active and productive part of the local economy.

    Winter Park Express Continues Its Success for Winter 2025-26; Kicks Off on December 19

    WINTER PARK, Colo., Nov. 5, 2025 — To meet growing demand for train travel through the mountain corridor and build off of a successful season last winter, the Amtrak Winter Park Express will kick off its season with holiday runs starting December 19, 2025. This seasonal service will run four days weekly after the New Year. With 57 roundtrips this season the Winter Park Express will continue to affordably and conveniently serve ski and non-ski passengers traveling between Denver and the Fraser Valley.

    Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Former Vice President

    DENVER - On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, following the lowering of flags by the White House in honor of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away on November 3, 2025, Colorado Governor Jared Polis ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings from now until sunset on the day of interment to honor the passing of the former Vice President, in accordance with U.S. flag code. 

    Per past practice, the flags shall be lowered to half-staff until sunset on the date of interment, which has not yet been announced.

    DENVER - Today, Governor Polis reminded Coloradans to vote in this year's election. 

    “Today is election day in Colorado. Don't forget to make your voice heard and cast your vote. Colorado’s secure and safe elections are a national gold standard, so Coloradans, whether voting by mail or in-person, can rest assured that our votes and voices are heard,” said Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

    Polis Administrations Celebrates Increased EV Incentives for New and Used Electric Vehicles

    Boulder - Governor Polis and EV industry leaders gathered at Boulder Hybrids this morning to celebrate an increase in Vehicle Exchange Colorado (VXC) Electric Vehicle rebate amounts that took effect today. The Governor was joined by Colorado Energy Office (CEO) Executive Director Will Toor and Boulder Hybrids owner Paul Guzyk. VXC rebates increased from $6,000 to $9,000 for new EV purchases and leases and $4,000 to $6,000 for used EV purchases and leases. Even without the federal tax credit, which expired on September 30 of this year, eligible Coloradans can still get up to $15,000 off the upfront cost of a new electric vehicle with state incentives alone.

    Colorado Agencies Sign Landmark One Health Agreement to Protect Public, Animal, and Environmental Health

    DENVER — Today, to celebrate national One Health Day, the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) announced the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance interagency cooperation and information sharing in the spirit of the "One Health" approach. This agreement establishes protocols for a more efficient and effective response to issues at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.

    Governor Polis: Colorado’s Government is Open and Budget is Balanced

    DENVER - Today, Governor Jared Polis unveiled his balanced budget proposal alongside Office of State Policy and Budgeting Director Mark Ferrandino and Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera. While it is typically due on the first weekday in November, this year, the Governor delivered the budget early due to November 1st falling on a Saturday. This budget addresses the challenging budget environment Colorado faces due to federal headwinds, while protecting critical investments in the areas Coloradans care most about, including education and public safety, and puts Medicaid on a more sustainable path while protecting coverage for Coloradans.

The visit highlighted the innovative partnership between the Colorado National Guard and Serve Colorado (AmeriCorps), which is managed in the Office of the Lt. Governor, showcasing how national service can be leveraged to strengthen wildfire resilience, build workforce skills, and create clear pathways into conservation and public service careers.
