  • Governor Polis’s Division of Insurance Actions Recover Over $1 Million for Colorado Consumers

    DENVER - Over $1 million has been recently recovered for Colorado consumers due to a series of regulatory actions by the Division of Insurance (DOI), part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Three companies will be returning $1,081,987 to Coloradans as a result of DOI actions: Kaiser Permanente of Colorado, Loya Insurance Company and Young America Insurance Company.
  • Colorado State Capitol to Shine for Voting Rights Centennial

    DENVER - The Colorado State Capitol will light up in purple and gold on Wednesday night, August 26, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the largest voting-rights expansion in U.S. history. Along with an official proclamation creating “Forward into Light, Women’s Vote Centennial Day,” the evening caps the Women’s Vote Centennial // Colorado 2020, a yearlong statewide effort to examine the importance of voting in our democracy. It is a collaboration between the Governor’s Women’s Vote Centennial Commission, History Colorado, and more than 130 partners across the state.
  • Gov. Polis Activates Colorado National Guard to Assist with Wildland Fire Response

    CENTENNIAL – Gov. Jared Polis has verbally authorized the Colorado National Guard to assist the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and incident commanders during the wildfires affecting Colorado. At the SEOC’s request, a Colorado Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter aircrew is on standby at the High-Altitude Army National Guard Training Site in Gypsum, Colorado, to provide a search and rescue capability to incident commanders. The Black Hawk is equipped with a hoist that can help to quickly evacuate firefighters and residents, saving lives.

  • Governor Polis Takes Action to Address COVID-19 & Wildfires

    DENVER - Governor Jared Polis signed an Executive Order ordering temporary fire restrictions across the State to reduce the risk of new fires and protect health and safety. Restrictions include certain outdoor fires, fireworks, and explosives.

    DENVER - Gov. Polis today provided an update on the wildfires burning in Western Colorado as well as the state’s response to COVID-19. The Governor was joined by Stan Hilkey, executive director of the Department of Public Safety; Dan Gibbs, executive director of the Department of Natural Resources and certified wildland firefighter who has been on the ground fighting the Grizzly Creek Fire; and Dr. Alexis W. Burakoff, MD, MPH, Medical Epidemiologist at the Department of Public Health and Environment.
