AURORA - Today, Governor Polis took a tour of the new Center for Applied Science and Technology Building (CAST) at Community College of Aurora, highlighting Colorado investments into higher education opportunities in STEM.

“I am excited to be at the Community College of Aurora today to celebrate the New Center for Applied Science and Technology building, helping students gain hands-on experience to develop needed skills to be able to get good jobs in Colorado. We are leading the way in creating career pathways for Coloradans to build career-ready skills, to grow our economy, and foster innovation,” said Governor Polis.

CAST first opened Fall 2025, the new building is in partnership with BuildStrong Academy of Colorado (BSA), connecting hundreds of Colorado students to life-changing career pathways.

“The new Center for Applied Science and Technology is exactly the kind of innovative investment that changes lives and strengthens Colorado’s workforce. CAST gives students access to cutting‑edge, hands‑on learning that prepares them for the high‑demand STEM careers driving our state’s economy. We’re proud to partner with the Community College of Aurora and BuildStrong Academy to expand opportunity, fuel innovation, and ensure every learner has a pathway to a family-sustaining job and career. Today’s celebration reflects Colorado’s ongoing commitment to aligning education with industry needs and building a stronger future for all Coloradans,” said JB Holston, Executive Director, Colorado Department of Higher Education.

“The CAST Building represents what is possible when state leadership, industry partners, and community colleges come together around a shared goal: preparing students for real careers that strengthen Colorado’s economy,” said Dr. Marie DeSanctis, Chancellor of the Colorado Community College System. “These programs are built around workforce demand and designed for access — ensuring learners can gain hands-on experience, earn industry-recognized credentials, and move quickly into high-quality, in-demand careers.”
